How do my viewers donate to me?
Setting up a page to let your viewers send a tip to you couldn't be easier. Simply go to your Settings - Tips page, and and hit the "Connect" button next to Tips under XPN Services.
You'll be redirected to PayPal's Authentification process here. Start by logging in with your PayPal information. You'll then be asked to allow XPN to access your Full Name, Email Address, Account confirmation status, and PayPal ID. You'll need to accept these terms to set up tipping with XPN.
Your PayPal account must be verified to connect it to XPN.
Once you've linked your PayPal, your tip page will be set up straight away. Click the "Creator Site" button on the main navigation. This will take you to your dedicated XPN website, where you can find your tip page and more. We recommend including this in your stream description as well as setting it up as a command in your favorite chat bot.
You will notice we ask for standard information from your viewers, such as their name, the amount, and a custom message.
Don't forget to add your Tip Link onto your Twitch panel and Chatbot message!
Are there any fees?
No, XPN does not take any additional fees from any transactions. We take a 0% cut.
The only fee you will ever see is the standard transaction fee that PayPal itself places on all transactions. This depends on various factors, but this is usually 2.9% + 30 cents. Click here for more information.
You can give your viewers the option of paying the standard PayPal transaction fee on top of what they donate if you prefer, meaning they pay the fee rather than you. If you head to your settings, configure PayPal, you have the option to toggle this on.
Do I need to wait to get my money?
The simple answer is, maybe. Under normal circumstances, money is paid directly into your PayPal account when viewers donate. XPN does not hold your donation money at any stage.
If the tipper pays using an eCheque, PayPal may hold this up to thirty days, sadly this is out of our control.
You should see money in your PayPal account as soon as PayPal has fully processed it. If XPN reports you as having received a tip but you do not see the transaction in PayPal, you might want to check that the PayPal email is correct. We cannot recover tips sent to the wrong email; they will be automatically refunded. Otherwise, please contact us! We're happy to help.
How much information do my viewers see?
Due to how PayPal transactions fundamentally work, your viewers will be able to see the email address and the name associated with your PayPal account. If you are concerned about this, we recommend you consider creating a PayPal Business account. With a PayPal Business account, the name of the business account will be displayed (instead of your full name). You do not necessarily need to legally register a company in order to own a business account.
How does XPN handle chargebacks?
Chargebacks are handled directly via PayPal by the streamer, we do not have any responsibility here. We have steps in place to reduce the likelihood of chargebacks but ultimately its between you and the tipper. We have placed a cap of 2000 USD per donation to reduce the likelihood of extremely large donations that will later be charged back.
There are ways that we recommend to reduce chargebacks such as:
- Large donations from viewers you aren't familiar with. Question it and confirm on stream after thanking them if that's okay.
- Place a quick disclaimer underneath your tipping panel that will let people know what they are donating to & that by sending a tip they are okay with it being non-refundable or charged back.
- Quickly respond to any chargeback issues that come through PayPal if they do. Any information that you can submit can help your case if this happens to you.
